Lenders earn interest by depositing digital assets into liquidity pools, while borrowers can take out loans by providing collateral. Aave introduced features like flash loans, rate switching (between stable and variable rates), and credit delegation. The protocol is governed by holders of the AAVE token, who vote on proposals to upgrade and manage the system.
