Anti-fragility is a concept introduced by Nassim Nicholas Taleb, describing systems that benefit from shocks or stressors. In the blockchain context, anti-fragile systems are protocols, networks, or communities that grow stronger under pressure—such as attacks, regulatory scrutiny, or market crashes. For example, Bitcoin’s increased hash rate and developer activity after regulatory threats, or DeFi protocols that evolve after exploits, demonstrate anti-fragile traits. Unlike merely resilient systems, anti-fragile blockchains adapt, innovate, and improve over time, reinforcing decentralization and robustness.
