API3 is a decentralized oracle network that allows data providers to offer their services directly to smart contracts without intermediaries. By promoting the use of 'first-party oracles,' API3 reduces trust assumptions, latency, and attack vectors common in third-party oracle models. It uses Airnode—an open-source gateway—to connect off-chain APIs with on-chain environments. Governance is managed by the API3 DAO, and the native API3 token is used for staking, voting, and collateral. API3 aims to provide more transparent, secure, and efficient data feeds to dApps and DeFi platforms.
