Autonomous Agent
Also known as: Smart Agent, Blockchain Bot, Self-Executing Contract
A self-executing entity on the blockchain that acts independently based on pre-programmed logic and environmental inputs.
An autonomous agent in Web3 is a program, often implemented as a smart contract, that can act on its own within the blockchain environment. It follows predefined logic and responds to external stimuli such as events, market data, or user actions. Examples include trading bots, rebalancing agents in DeFi, or governance bots that propose or execute actions. These agents operate without direct user control once deployed and may integrate with oracles, APIs, or DAO systems. Their reliability and safety depend heavily on secure and deterministic programming.
