dApp (Decentralized Application)
Also known as: Decentralized App, Smart Contract Application, Web3 Application
An application built on a blockchain that operates without centralized control, often using smart contracts.
A dApp, or decentralized application, is software that runs on a blockchain or decentralized network. Unlike traditional apps, dApps use smart contracts to enforce logic and store state, removing the need for central servers or intermediaries. dApps can be finance-related (DeFi), gaming (GameFi), NFT-based, or used for governance, identity, and social platforms. Users interact with dApps via wallets like MetaMask, which sign and broadcast transactions. dApps are permissionless, transparent, and often open-source, empowering users with greater control over their data and assets.
