Inflationary Token
Also known as: Token with Issuance, Growth Supply Token, Mintable Crypto Asset
A cryptocurrency with an increasing supply over time, often used to incentivize participation or secure a network.
An inflationary token is a type of cryptocurrency whose total supply increases over time through minting or block rewards. Unlike deflationary models that reduce supply, inflationary tokens aim to encourage participation in networks by rewarding miners, stakers, or contributors. While moderate inflation can support ecosystem growth, excessive inflation may erode token value if demand does not keep pace. Examples include ETH (pre-EIP-1559) and DOT, where ongoing issuance funds security or governance. Tokenomics design must balance incentives, sustainability, and long-term value retention.
