Initial DEX Offering (IDO)
Also known as: Decentralized Token Sale, DEX Launch, Public Launch via DEX
A fundraising model where new tokens are launched directly on decentralized exchanges to reach users without intermediaries.
An Initial DEX Offering (IDO) is a decentralized fundraising method where a crypto project launches its token directly on a decentralized exchange (DEX). Unlike ICOs, IDOs do not rely on centralized intermediaries. Instead, tokens are offered through liquidity pools or launchpads like Polkastarter or DAO Maker. Participants can instantly trade tokens, and price discovery happens via automated market makers (AMMs). IDOs aim to democratize access, improve transparency, and reduce listing friction. However, they also face risks like front-running, volatility, and limited investor protections.
