Interoperability
Also known as: Cross-Chain Connectivity, Blockchain Compatibility, Chain Interoperability
The ability of different blockchain networks to communicate, exchange data, and operate together seamlessly.
Interoperability in blockchain refers to the capability of distinct blockchain systems to interact with one another—sharing data, assets, or instructions across chains. As Web3 grows, interoperability enables cross-chain dApps, bridges, and liquidity networks. It solves the siloed nature of blockchains, allowing a user on Ethereum to interact with assets or logic on Solana, Cosmos, or Polkadot. Interoperability is achieved through wrapped assets, cross-chain messaging protocols, interoperability hubs, and standards like IBC (Inter-Blockchain Communication). It’s essential for composability, user experience, and scaling Web3 ecosystems.
