A governance model where decisions are made outside the blockchain through forums or voting tools.
Off‑chain Governance refers to the process by which blockchain projects, DAOs, or protocols make decisions outside of on-chain mechanisms. It typically involves community discussions on platforms like Discord or governance forums, followed by signaling votes on tools like Snapshot. Unlike on-chain governance, decisions here are not automatically enforced by smart contracts and often require trusted execution. While offering flexibility and lower friction, off-chain governance can reduce transparency and verifiability if not documented properly.
