Self‑Sovereign Identity (SSI) is a decentralized digital identity framework where individuals have full ownership and control over their personal data. Using decentralized identifiers (DIDs) and verifiable credentials, SSI enables users to present attributes—such as age, certification, or membership—without revealing extraneous information. On blockchain, SSI enables privacy-preserving login, compliance (KYC), and cross-platform portability. Individuals can share only needed data, revoke credentials, and retain sovereignty over identity in a trust-minimized manner.
