Vesting
Also known as: Token Release Schedule, Cliff Vesting, Linear Unlocking
A process by which tokens or assets are gradually released to recipients over a set time period.
Vesting in crypto refers to the schedule by which tokens are distributed over time to team members, investors, or contributors. Instead of receiving all tokens upfront, recipients unlock portions periodically—encouraging long-term alignment with the project. Vesting is often used in tokenomics to prevent early dumps and increase commitment. Schedules can include cliffs (initial lock-up period) and linear or step-wise releases. Transparent vesting helps build investor confidence and maintain price stability.
