Vitalik Buterin is a Russian-Canadian programmer and writer best known as the co-founder of Ethereum, a decentralized platform that introduced smart contracts to the blockchain ecosystem. Born in 1994, he became involved in Bitcoin in 2011 and later co-founded Bitcoin Magazine. Dissatisfied with Bitcoin's scripting limitations, he proposed Ethereum in 2013 to support a broader range of decentralized applications.
