Non-Custodial Wallet
Also known as: Self-Custody Wallet, User-Controlled Wallet, Private Key Wallet
A crypto wallet that gives users full control over their private keys and funds without relying on third parties.
A non-custodial wallet is a type of cryptocurrency wallet where users retain full ownership of their private keys, enabling complete control over their assets. Unlike custodial wallets managed by exchanges or third parties, non-custodial wallets do not require trusting an intermediary. This aligns with the decentralized ethos of Web3. Wallets like MetaMask, Trust Wallet, and Ledger are examples of non-custodial solutions. While more secure in principle, they require users to manage their own seed phrases, making them more vulnerable to loss through user error.
