Digital Signature
Also known as: Crypto Signature, ECDSA Signature, Blockchain Signature
A cryptographic method used to verify the authenticity and integrity of a message or transaction.
A digital signature is a cryptographic technique that allows one party to prove the origin and integrity of a message, transaction, or document. In blockchain, digital signatures are essential for validating ownership of private keys and authorizing transactions. When a user signs data with their private key, others can verify it with their public key—ensuring the data hasn’t been altered and was signed by the correct party. Digital signatures underpin secure interactions in crypto wallets, smart contracts, NFTs, and digital identity systems. They use algorithms like ECDSA (Bitcoin) and EdDSA (Ethereum 2.0, ZK systems).
